Alter Me Up – Birmingham – 30th March 2012

As an emerging designer the opportunity to showcase at runway level doesn’t come up that often at this stage of the game and so I feel incredibly lucky to have been involved in ‘Alter Me Up’ at the end of this month in Birmingham. This event, which is a new venture by Enviious Events, looks like being a regular calendar event in the future if this event is a success.

The beauty of ‘Alter Me Up’ is that it offers new and progressive designers, those creatives we should all be watching in the future, the opportunity to show off their creativity to the extreme. I’ve had a chance to see many of the outfits showing which, in addition to upcycling and latex, includes some fabulous accessory designers and I’m really bowled over by the range of styles and approaches that everyone is bringing to the stage.

These are going to be names to watch in the future. Whether you are a buyer, photographer or stylist, these are the people you need to be including in your work. If you are a model or just like adding unique and new fashion to your wardrobe you need to be here.

Although I am a designer I am also a photoshoot stylist keen to find new and interesting designers to promote and I am always looking for inspiring approaches to collaborations so I will certainly be watching what’s going on at the night.

This shows’ line up includes:

Falcieri Designs
MosquitoHeadUK
Funcky Jewells
Montana Designs
Gothic Burlesque and Sword and Bough
ATROPOS
Sophie Adamson Art and Accessories
Dany DARKARTAIRBRUSHING Bowen
Catriona Stewart

There are also some fabulous models lined up and there is a stunning stage show to whet your appetites. So please come along and support the show on Friday 30th March. Get your tickets in advance online. They are only £8 and will guarantee your entry.

Future shows and the chance for more designers to exhibit on the stage will be gauged by the success of this event and for those of us who aren’t able to showcase at the likes of London Fashion Week yet (or ever) these shows are precious opportunities that we should all be proud to support.
